Safety in the body
Drawing on Somatic Experiencing®, we let your nervous system feel safe enough to settle — never pushing past what feels okay. Safe ground is the earth from which everything else can grow.

I'm Gonçalo Moreira — a Focusing practitioner and musician. Through gentle, embodied listening, I walk alongside you while your own deeper knowing eases what's stuck and senses what wants to come next.
Your companion in your journey
My own long journey of questioning led me to this integrative way of working — gentle, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming, honouring your own rhythm. My role isn't to offer a cure, but to share the map of my journey and walk alongside you as you navigate yours. It's an invitation to listen, together.
I came to this work as a musician, and music remains a parallel way of knowing what it feels like to create from a deep and wise place. I'm also autistic and ADHD, and highly sensitive — I understand this terrain from the inside.
A different kind of listening
So much of life asks us to push, fix, and figure things out. This work moves the other way. Focusing is a gentle, well-researched practice — developed by the philosopher and psychotherapist Eugene Gendlin — of turning toward what he called the felt sense: the living, wordless knowing that is already there, before words. We keep it kind company until it opens.
A tight place softens. A next step appears. The right words arrive. The change doesn't come from a technique applied to you — it comes from you. My role is simply to help you hear your own inner guide.
How we work
“Integrative” because we gently weave several threads together — always in service of your own process.
Drawing on Somatic Experiencing®, we let your nervous system feel safe enough to settle — never pushing past what feels okay. Safe ground is the earth from which everything else can grow.
At the centre is Focusing itself — turning toward the felt sense with warmth, meeting the many parts of you with kindness, so nothing in you has to be exiled, silenced, or fixed.
And we leave room for creativity and expression — movement, image, sound, that wordless source that music first taught me to trust — so the work stays alive rather than merely analytical.
Who I especially walk with
For performance nerves, creative blocks, and the living felt sense inside playing, improvising, and making. This is close to my heart — my doctorate wove Focusing together with the act of creating music.
For those who feel deeply and think differently — highly sensitive, autistic, ADHD, twice-exceptional. I live this too, and I hold it gently and without judgement.
For the book, piece, thesis, or idea that keeps circling just out of reach — using Thinking at the Edge, Gendlin's method, to help fresh, precise words finally arrive.
Ways we can work together
Sessions are one-to-one, online — or in person in Coimbra — in English, Português, or Español.
A gentle place to begin, or to return to whenever you need.
More room to settle in and let the work deepen — at a slightly reduced rate.
Everything begins with a free, no-pressure conversation, so we can sense together whether this is right for you.
Book a free first conversationCommon questions
Think of it as a gentle, unfolding conversation with your own inner experience. We usually begin by helping you feel settled and at ease. From there, I invite you to turn your attention softly inward — toward the felt sense of whatever you're carrying — and we keep it kind, curious company.
I'm not there to analyse or advise, but to accompany you while your own knowing finds room to speak. We close by giving you time to settle and notice anything that wants to be carried forward. There's no fixed formula — we follow what feels right for you, at your pace.
No. This is Focusing companionship, coaching, and education — not psychotherapy — and I don't diagnose or treat mental-health conditions. The difference is where the change comes from: rather than applying techniques to fix a problem, I help you listen to your own felt sense, so your own wisdom leads.
Many people find it a supportive complement to other kinds of care, rather than a replacement. And if therapy is what you need, I'll gladly help point you toward the right support.
Not at all. This is a neurodiversity-affirming space, and I live it myself. Your way of feeling and thinking isn't something to manage or mask — we adapt the process to fit you, whether that means more movement, working with image and metaphor, longer pauses, or whatever helps your nervous system feel safe. You're welcome exactly as you are.
That's completely normal — and often a wise, protective response, not a sign anything has gone wrong. We start slowly and gently, sometimes just noticing something outside you, or a place in your body that feels neutral. There's no pressure to feel anything in particular. The practice itself helps you reconnect, softly, at a pace that feels safe.
Online works beautifully. Over a clear video call I can attune to what matters most — your breathing, your posture, the subtle shifts as we go — and many people find that being in their own space makes it easier to settle.
As for how many sessions: there's no set number. A single session is complete in itself and often brings a real sense of movement; a set of four gives more room for the work to deepen. We'll sense together what feels right after your first conversation — you're never locked in.
In their words
As someone with AuDHD, I have a need to feel safe and held… Gonçalo was able to provide this in just one two-hour session, by offering me all the space and time I needed.
Kaye Heyes — Neurodivergent Coach & Supervisor
The sessions I had were transformative. An old, ingrained pattern was able to release… I now feel more free, expansive, and able to make positive practical changes in my life.
Kay Hoffmann — Focusing Professional & Coordinator
His steady presence supported me in feeling the strength of my essence. After our sessions, I find myself honouring my voice and speaking from a place of clarity and choice.

A gentle note: this work is Focusing companionship, coaching, and education — a way of accompanying your own process. It isn't psychotherapy, and I don't diagnose or treat medical or mental-health conditions. If that's what you're looking for, I'll gladly help point you toward the right support.
